The J. Christian Gillin Young Investigator Award 2024 (YIA)
Purpose:
The J. Christian Gillin Young Investigator Award (YIA) is given annually for outstanding research in light therapy, light applications, and biological rhythms, either published or in preliminary stages. It aims to promote international exchange and innovative approaches in these areas among young investigators.
Process and Ceremony:
Applicants submit either a published manuscript or unpublished preliminary data (details below). Submissions are reviewed by a scientific committee comprised of SLRCH members and the previous YIA recipient. The award recipient, selected from eligible applicants, is recognized at the annual SLRCH meeting. The recipient presents their work at the award ceremony and receives a $600 prize, with meeting registration costs reimbursed if applicable.
Submission Guidelines:
Eligibility: MD, MSc, or PhD students, or early-career post-docs (within 5 years of receiving their degree). Originality and independence of thought are valued.
Submission Options: Published manuscript (within the last 12 months) as first or co-first author, or preliminary results organized as a manuscript (max 5-10 pages, Font 11-12), including figures and references.
Additional Requirements: Short CV (max 3 pages), applicant’s letter of motivation, and a mandatory letter of support from the senior investigator/mentor, indicating the candidate’s contribution.
SLRCH Membership: While current SLRCH membership is not mandatory for applicants, they are required to become members before the meeting.
Meeting Registration: Participants must register for the meeting and submit an abstract.
